When it comes to waterfront dining in Sydney, options are typically limited to a $600 a head set menu or a two-month wait for a table. Fortunately for you, Listers, we've come across the sparkling diamond of Circular Quay, and we want to share it with you. Searock Grill have you covered for breakfast, lunch AND dinner. Yes, we tried all of them, and no we don't feel even a little bit guilty.
We started our marathon meal with the fried sticky beef fingers, marinated Wagyu short ribs with orange segments, cherry tomato and a BBQ glaze that fell off the bone at our tiniest whisper and melted in our mouths far too quickly. We then moved on to the wok-fried Alaskan king crab that had the perfect balance between sweet chilli, salty oyster sauce, a kick of ginger spiciness and a sprinkling of fresh coriander that had us waiting on the edge of our seat for the next course.
Now, moving on to seafood platters. Searock offer two delicious options that offer ample fish and crustaceans. The Searock platter comes with Blue Swimmer crab, Tasmanian mussels, Crystal Bay prawns, Sydney Rock oysters and Moreton Bay bugs with a few delicious dipping sauces. If you're super hungry and want to be really fancy, go for the Indulgence platter, which includes even more of the above, as well as WA lobster and NZ scampi with a serving of perfectly golden, earth-shatteringly crunchy chips and a side salad.
If you're a bit of a carnivore, look no further than the steak menu, which can only be described as epic. You'll have two choices of beefy delights, starting with the Black Angus range that is sourced from premium Australian growing regions and came to our table practically begging to be demolished. The second option is the decadent Tajima Wagyu range, a specialty bloodline of cow that is renowned for producing the best-quality meat in Japan. They're also 100 per cent antibiotic free, 100 per cent hormone free and 500 per cent melt-in-your-mouth, smack-you-in-the-face delectable. If loving this steak is wrong, we don't want to be right.
We summoned our second stomachs for dessert and tried out the three delicate chocolate cakes that were calling our name from the kitchen. These luxurious bites feature a chocolate caramelia triangle, caramel milk and chocolate and white chocolate mousse… Naturally, we washed it all down with an espresso martini.
