Is there anything more decadent than a juicy piece of fried chicken paired with a glass of Moet? When it comes to Butter in Surry Hills the simple answer would be, no.
A hybrid sneaker, fried chicken and champagne bar in Surry Hills – you’ve heard it all now, right? Butter is everything that you expect from fried chicken with a healthy side of innuendo.
For starters, things can get as hot and steamy as you like with their list of seasonings, from naked, OG, Fire, and my personal favourite, hot AF, letting you name your flavour and set the pace from the moment you walk in.
Their 3 pac of fried chicken is exactly what you need to answer your fried chicken cravings but my stomach was solely focussed on one thing—devouring the chicken sandwich, and my gawd was it good. With a generous lathering of pickles, dashi butter and a side of slaw the bun was light and fluffy and the chicken juicy, making it a winning combination and one that may just be my favourite fried chicken burger to date, there I said it.
We all know sides are often as exciting, if not more so, than mains, (at least to me) and Butter has our back on this one. I’m taking crunchy cucumber pickles, slaw with the right amount of mayo and my personal fave, the miso corny corn on the cob with miso butter.
Remember guys, life isn’t life without fries so you need to get yourself a side of laces (shoestring fries) with shiitake spice to round out your meal and grab your vego friends a serve or two of crispy tofu nuggets, you’ll probs want a bite and I don’t blame you.
Now before I finish, I have two words for you, alcoholic slushies. Yes, grown up versions of everyone’s favourite icy treat are ready for the tasting and you definitely need to get in on their sangria slushie or, if you’re the desi, their sober melon slushie is as much fun as you can have sans spirits.
Have your second stomach at the ready for their range of soft serves, with everything from butter, caramel and strawberry to special toppings like Froot Loops, because of course they go perfectly with soft serve.
So grab your kicks and get on down to Butter the next time that fried chicken craving hits.
