Joining the ranks of Sydney's best small bars, The Crow Bar is bringing delectable tapas and boutique wine to the people of Crows Nest. A welcome addition to the neighbourhood's thriving restaurant and bar scene, the watering hole has received glistening reviews since opening its doors late last year.
Owners Kerry, Tracy and John boast a wealth of experience in hospitality, and have created a welcoming venue with plenty of charm. Snag one of the bar seats, or get cosy at one of the tables out back near the open fireplace, and settle in for the night.
The menu is divided into share boards, tapas for pecking and bigger bites for those who are really hungry. Start with the charcuterie board, a generous selection of Spanish cured meats, herb crusted beef sirloin, pickled vegetables, homemade relish, nuts, apple and warm baguettes. Next go the 'not so humble' croquettes oozing with three types of cheese, and served with house cherry jam, followed by crispy pork belly and pork and veal meatballs. Like things hot? You can't go past the spicy chorizo with caramelised apple or the king prawns cooked in a creamy chilli sauce. Now, for those who have really worked up an appetite, the one-kilogram roasted lamb shoulder with house chips and aioli are damn good! We also love the classic chicken quesadillas that are laden with cheese and dripping with guacamole and herb yoghurt. Delicious!
If wine and beer doesn't take your fancy, the awesome bartenders will happily whip you up one of their signature cocktails. Our eyes are on the Jolly Nutcracker made with fresh strawberry and mint, tequila, Chambord, Cointreau, citrus, vanilla and a touch of Chartreuse. For the fellas there's a vast selection of Man-Tails such as the Racey Tracey (Appleton Estate rum, cherry liqueur, chocolate bitters) or the Flaming Lulu (Ketel One Vodka, Tanqueray No. 10 gin, ginger liqueur, dry vermouth, fresh ginger, chilli), that's sure to ruffle your feathers.
