There’s a day for just about everything now, but that just gives us the excuse to gorge on whatever national day it is with little to no guilt. So, with National Burger Day coming up this Saturday here are some of the best burgers in Sydney you have to try (who said burgers for breakfast, lunch and dinner was a bad thing?).
The Tilbury Hotel
To celebrate all things burger, The Tilbury are offering a very special one-off burger created by Michelin-accredited chef James Wallis. Prepare your bellies for the truffled cheese burger with wagyu cheese patty, fried hens egg, black truffle, parmesan, pickles and fries. You can wipe your drool off your keyboard/mobile now.
The Cut Bar and Grill
This one’s not for the faint hearted. Think three cuts of David Blackmore wagyu beef, truffles, pickles, and horseradish encased with a wonderfully soft brioche bun. Served with house made tomato sauce and triple-cooked chips you might need to take a moment to appreciate the deliciousness after the first glorious bite.
The Papi Chulo burger recently won the title of Merivale’s best burger at this year’s March Into Merivale and consists of grain-fed beef, bacon, American cheese, tomato, lettuce, pickles and, of course, a soft bun—it's a fool-proof combo. If being set against the backdrop of the Manly Wharf brings on the seafood cravings, Papi Chulo also have a crispy fish burger. Win!
Bang Bang could very well be the perfect place to kick off the National Burger Day frenzy. There are a few special burgs on the menu at the moment, including a double cheeseburger with umami sauce (umm yes) and a chilli con carne burger for a bit of that meat on meat action.
Pub Life Kitchen
When a burger is named The O.G. you know you’re in for a treat. Pub Life Kitchen has opened in Rozelle and we’re pretty darn pleased about the whole thing. If you’re all done with beef for the day definitely try The T.L.C.—you can’t go wrong with buttermilk fried chicken.
B L Burgers
This week’s burger special at B L Burgers is hilariously called the “Justin Beaver”—a 200g pattie, American red cheddar, triple smoked Canadian sausage, Beaver Coney Island mustard, pickles, onions, ketchup, lettuce and maple aioli. Umm, we might need a nap after this bad boy.
Light Brigade Hotel
A little birdy told us that The Light Brigade is bringing back the famous ‘Trufflenator’ especially for National Burger Day. It’s hard to resist when this burger contains a wagyu patty, crispy bacon, American cheddar, crunchy onion rings, and a whoooole lotta truffle. We’re talkin’ truffle mayo, truffle butter, truffle infused Havarti cheese and truffle maple syrup. We recommend pre-purchasing a ticket online or get down there early because these are gonna go quick.
