Nike’s helping you Just Do It this winter with not one, but two great apps to help you find your motivation when it’s pissing down outside. The Nike+ Running app is good whether you’re a rookie runner or a little more advanced and prepping for a race. It surrounds you with the support you need to run better by providing you with expert guidance and the encouragement of millions of runners all around the world. The Nike Training Club is the ultimate personal trainer in your pocket, with over 175 free workouts from strength and endurance to mobility and yoga. The Nike Master Trainers will guide you through body part focused workouts you can do with your own bodyweight, which means you’re able to workout without leaving the comfort of your own home or changing out of your pyjamas. Sounds pretty good to us!
If you haven’t heard of Kayla Itsines and her BBG (Bikini Body Guide), have you even been on Instagram in the last three years?! Australian-based personal trainer Kayla Itsines has created a women-focused health and fitness program to help you ladies live your best life. Her first workout guide is based around high intensity plyometric training using minimal space and equipment while BBG Stronger, her second release, is a weights-based program for you gym junkies. Her app, SWEAT, will take you through both of these as well as a yoga program and Kelsey Wells’ post-pregnancy and weight-training programs. SWEAT also includes a fitness tracker and meal planner to cover all your health and fitness needs.
J&J Official 7 Minutes Workout
If you’re always using lack of time as a reason to skip your workout (you know who you are), you’d better find a new excuse cos we just solved that problem for you. With the help of the J&J Official 7 Minutes Workout app, you can kick your own ass in less than the time it takes to pick what Netflix show you’re gonna watch tonight. Their extensive workout library contains 72 exercises and 22 workouts, helping you find a workout that fits your schedule and fitness levels. This app also contains video tutorials to ensure you’ve got good form and will send you workout reminders to help you get your A into G.
Couch To 5K
Let’s be real, if you’re not a regular runner hauling yourself for a jog around the block is just bloody awful. Let the Couch to 5K app gently guide through the running process and help you fall in love with. A lot of people come in waaaay too hot when starting running and try to smash out a 10km after a week, but this app will slowly you ease you into it. Spend just 20 to 30 minutes running three times a week for nine weeks and you’ll be pounding the pavement with ease. With four motivating virtual coaches and audio cues to nudge you along, the Couch to 5K app is perfect for motivating the would-be runners among us.
There’s nothing like an early morning yoga sesh to start your day off right but the ‘early morning’ part gets a little tricky in the colder months. Luckily, there’s an app for that. Pocket Yoga helps you keep up your practice, at your own pace, in your own home. Containing 27 sessions of varying difficulty and length, the in-app instructors will guide you through your entire session. It also helpfully includes a pose dictionary to help you come to terms with poses like ‘Half Lord of the Fishes.’ Nice.
30 Day Fitness Challenge
If you’re a person who needs routine and structure to motivate you to workout, the 30 Day Fitness Challenge app provides just that. It tells you exactly what to do each day, taking the thinking out so you can focus on the doing. Pick from the abs, butt or full body programs to target the areas you want to strengthen. It gradually increases the intensity of your workout each day so you don’t burn yourself out but get stronger and fitter fast. The 30 Day Fitness challenge app sends you reminders to workout each day so there’s no slacking off with this app!
Working out is a great way to do something good for yourself and the Charity Miles app makes it a way to help others too.
