Prepare yourselves, because Merivale is set to reveal an absolute banger line up of new venues this year. In a huge move to evolve Ivy’s laneway precinct and George Street presence, the hospitality juggernaut is set to open four new bars and eateries this year.
With the mammoth project dubbed as “Ivy 2.0”, each establishment is meant to push for a 24-hour CBD and we’re totally here for it. Adding to the already stellar line-up of venues in this location, Justin Hemmes has envisioned a “neighbourhood of around-the-clock hospitality”.
In July, you’ll see the opening of Little Felix, a sister French bistro to Felix on Ash Street. Followed by a Middle Eastern restaurant and a Mexican eatery on George Street and for the big guns, a Totti’s-inspired eatery on Palings Lane after the success of the big courtyard vibes and burrata feeds at The Royal Bondi.
As for the finer details of these new venues, Little Felix will open right next door to Felix, pairing oaky French wines and classic cocktails to their menu, which is centred around all things charcuterie and cheese.
The newest Italian bar to enter the Merivale family will serve up wood-fired bread and antipasto, thanks to legendary chef Mike Eggert. Whereas chef Simon Zalloua will be heading up a new Lebanese eatery, churning out up mezze-shared plates with a vegetarian-heavy emphasis. Details are yet to be revealed on the Mexican joint. Stay tuned here.
While you’re waiting, head over to East Village Sydney for its rooftop winter garden.
