The Cheapskates’ Guide To The Perth Royal Show

If you’re anything like us, when you hear the words “Perth Royal Show” your heart skips a beat, but you also start seeing dollar signs in front of your eyes! With adulthood comes responsibility and having to think about your budget so you can afford avo on toast the next time you’re out having breakfast (and so you can afford that down payment on a house in the next 30 years, maybe.)

Fear not! We have put together the ultimate cheapskates’ guide to the IGA Perth Royal Show, so you can still have loads of fun and get plenty of bang for your buck.

There’s Going To Be 8 Days Of Royally Good Value

Each day of the Show will be dedicated to freebies and price reductions to celebrate 8 Days Of Royally Good Value (we see what you did there). From a half price kids’ day and free water bottles to freebies from IGA and a major prize giveaway—pick your day accordingly and save-a-da-money!

Buy Your Tickets In Advance

You’ve missed the online pre sale ticket window (shame on you), but there are still some early bird tickets to take advantage of until the show kicks off on 23 September. And if you’re too slack to organise that (or want to avoid the online booking fee), head in to select IGAs during Show week to nab yourself some discounted tickets.

It’s Cheaper To Go After 5pm

Let us guess, your boss won’t let you take a day of annual leave to go to the Show? Never fear, you can still make your way down there after hours and for a reduced price too. Head to the gate after 5pm any day of the Show and you can get your hands on some sweet ticket and entertainment combos. Think of the savings!

Watch All Of The Free Entertainment

When you were a kiddo going to the Show might have been all about the showbags and rides. But you’re older now, and a lot more refined, plus you no longer have pocket money, so load up your schedule with all of the fun, free events like Jaws Of Death, Dance Of The Drones, the fireworks spectacular, show jumping, dog shows, wood chopping and a speed painter. And don’t forget to guess the weight of the baconer.

Cuddle All Of The Animals You Can

You can cuddle all of the animals at the IGA Perth Royal Show for free, if that’s not better than a thrill ride, we don’t know what is! From baby goats and guinea pigs to bunnies, piglets, chicks and dogs, your oxytocin levels will be going through the roof with all of that fluffy love.

Free Samples!

Foodies will know that one of the best parts about the Show is all the free samples you get from the various pavilions. Our favourite? The WA Dairy Pavilion, where you can get your hands on cheese, chocolate, ice cream, milkshakes and fudge. You’ll be rolling out of there in no time.

If You’re A Student, Claim Your Discounts!

Uni students can now get ahold of $16 tickets to the Show, which is almost half the adult price, so remember to flash that concession card around like you just don’t care when you’re buying tickets!

Stock Up On The Cheap, But Good, Showbags

As we’re sure you’ll remember from your scrunchie-wearing, Cheese TV watching days, there are so many showbags to choose from at the Show, but us clever cats know that you don’t have to spend too much to get yourself a whole lot of goodies. With bags from as little as $4, you won’t be too hard pressed to find something that falls within your budget. We love the Whittaker’s Slab bag, Cadbury Dairy Milk Superbag and the Bertie Beetle Triple Deal showbag. Sugar coma come at us!

Here for a whole week from 23 to 30 September, here are 12 more reasons why we’re counting down to the IGA Perth Royal Show!
