If you’re an avid reader of The Urban List then your social calendar is probably fairly full given there’s something good on almost every day in Melbourne, but just in case you’ve got a couple of gaps before winter ends, this is the list for you.

Throw on your puffer jacket, pack an umbrella and a beanie, and check out these 50 events you need to go to in Melbourne before winter winds up.

  1. There’s a festival dedicated to the humble spud taking place this weekend, get into it.
  2. Head to NGV and check out Van Gogh and the Seasons. It’s going to be amazing.
  3. The Royal Melbourne Alpaca Show is a thing, and you should definitely think about going.
  4. Those legends at The Food Truck Park are at it again, this time bringing us the Coffee Festival.
  5. Jump on the Great Ocean Road and head to Apollo Bay where an epic after dark festival called Winter Wild is happening.
  6. Queer Expo is happening at the Melbourne Showgrounds, it’s Australia’s first ever LGBTI+ pop-culture expo.

  8. If you’re a bit mad for crafts and quilts—you’re in luck. The Craft & Quilt Fair is on once again.
  9. Take a trip to windy Docklands and check out the Firelight Festival, which is taking winter solstice to a whole new level.
  10. Jerry Seinfeld will be bringing serenity now to Melburnians with 3 shows at Hisense Arena, there are still tickets available for the Monday show.
  11. Seaworks in Williamstown is holding a ‘Winter Wonderland’ which will have a chairlift, a giant ice slide, and a lot of hot chocolate.
  12. Let it go, and head to Hisense Arena and check out Disney On Ice: Frozen. The most relevant of all Disney movies to be made into an ‘on ice’ version.
  13. Channel your inner Kate Bush as The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever is happening once again.
  14. Need something to motivate you to get that summer bod back? Run Melbourne is just the thing you need.
  15. It’s the 20th anniversary of the creation of Daria, so of course, there’s a Daria 20th Anniversary Party happening at Supersmall Club.
  16. Just in case your winter belly needs to be stocked some more, The Food Truck Park is hosting an All-American Feast.
  17. Are you mad for snow and rooftops? Because you’d probably be interested in the Rooftop Snow Party.
  18. The master of the cosmos Neil Degrasse Tyson is heading to our fair shores, definitely worth checking out.
  19. Point your pinky finger high up in the air, because The High Tea Party is coming.

  22. Go nuts with Furnace and the Fundamentals at Furnapalooza, it’s all taking place at Max Watts.

  24. Check out ‘Creature’, a group exhibition of new works featuring a host of bizarre creatures presented by beinArt.

  30. We don’t want to flog a dead horse, but The Food Truck Park is at it again with the Big Breakfast Festival. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
  31. The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra are about to ‘drink your milkshake’ as they pump out the truly wild score to There Will Be Blood as PT Anderson’s masterpiece plays on the big screen.
  32. Batman fans rejoice, because IMAX are throwing on a massive The Dark Knight double feature (The Dark Knight followed by The Dark Knight Rises). It sounds pretty big……for you.

  45. Just in case your pottery skills haven’t improved since you last did pottery in Year 7, it’s good to know that you can buy whatever you desire at the Melbourne Ceramics Market.
  46. Wild Nights is back at Werribee Open Range Zoo with an all new program for the school holidays. You’ll be able to grab some hot chocolate, mulled wine, and winter warming food as well.
  47. It’s not often you see a wine market, but The Botanical is throwing the Winter Wine Market where you can taste and buy more than 50 varieties of the good stuff.
  48. There are only 2 NGV Friday Nights sessions left so we suggest you get there this week or next.
  49. If you’re fast AND furious then The Fast * The Furious series is something you should be into. There’s a Fast & The Furious marathon happening at The Astor.
  50. It’s Canada Day this weekend, so grab some poutine and settle in for a celebration like no other at Chuckle Park.
