If you were within 5-metres of a television over the weekend, you would have seen Masterchef’s super-subtle advertising campaign for a certain caramel tart. A tart that holds the title of Best Tart In Australia (yes, there is such a thing), involves a 51-step recipe and took its creator 45 attempts to get right.
Yep, it’s the Passion For Caramel tart from Australia’s top chocolatier—Deniz Karaca—and for two days only this week, you can buy a slice in the CBD.
Now to some people, 45 attempts to perfect a caramel tart is a waste of time, especially when you can grab a pretty good one down the local bakery for $5 a slice. But considering Deniz was voted one of the Top 3 chocolate-type-people in the WORLD in 2013, we’re willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.
If you want to experience the boundaries of tart deliciousness, get your ass down to Popstic in Fed Square on Friday or Saturday. Deniz will be serving up caramel tarts by the slice ($15) or by the...whole thing ($60). The guys at Popstic have even invented a pink Moscato sorbet to clean your palate after it’s stuffed full of gooey caramel. There’s a flavour combo we bet you haven’t tried before...
