We’ve Found Prahran’s Best Lunch Deal

Of all the meals one can eat during the day, it's lunch that currently takes our fancy – that glorious midday meal, providing sustenance for the rest of the afternoon, potentially accompanied by a cheeky vino or two.

While the thought of lunch and a vino is enough to bring a smile to our faces, the combination of said food and wine in the form of a lunch deal makes us even happier campers. Oh yeah, we lurrrrve our lunches!

But amongst all of the great lunch deals in Melbourne, we're keen to know who does Prahran's best (our HQ may or may not be in the area…) and it's with much excitement, and a side of drooling, that we can say we've found the restaurant responsible.

The Smith, stand up and take a bow.

Located on High Street, The Smith is one of Prahran's best restaurants, and has long been a fave of locals looking for the perfect dining and drinking combo (oh, and the good looking crowd doesn't hurt either…). The food ranges from delicious mouthfuls – think soft shell crab tortillas and sticky beef buns – to bigger share plates and mains, plus ahhhhhmazing desserts (the Knickerbocker Glory WILL change your life). With a variety of spaces to dine in downstairs, plus two private areas upstairs, The Smith is the perfect place for lunch in Prahran.

Like we said, though, it's The Smith's lunch deal we're particularly enamoured of – not just because it boasts a selection of some of their tastiest dishes, but also because it makes the ordering process easier for us indecisive folk. Five dishes, a glass of wine, two hours of free parking plus the joy of not having to make the tough calls ourselves for only $35? Sign us up!

The Smith will get you started with two of their most popular 'mouthful' dishes – silken tofu with pickled ginger, cucumber and mint, and betel leaves filled with tempura king prawn and ponzu sauce. Fresh and flavoursome, these two bites will really get your stomach warmed up.

Next is the super soft kingfish sashimi, served with mango puree, coconut and green chili dressing. If sweet yet spicy dishes are your thing, you will devour this (just like we did…). Lunch in Prahran has never looked so sweet, with the kingfish followed by The Smith's famous grilled eggplant – a tasty treat served with tahini, pinenuts and fresh mint.

Oh but wait, there's more! The final taste in The Smith's epic lunch deal are the soft fajitas with braised wagyu osso bucco (drooooool), avocado and sweet corn salsa. Wash all that down with a glass of either the Endless Pinot Grigio or the Endless Shiraz and you've got yourself a pretty fine meal.

If The Smith's lunch deal isn't enough to tempt you, then perhaps the rest of the delicious menu will. They've recently added a few new dishes to their lunchtime repertoire, and after visiting ourselves we can say 'daaamn they are good!'

Our picks of the new lunch menu? The Flinders Island lamb cutlet with cauliflower, eggplant and tahini was tender, juicy, and oh-so-moreish, while the pork hock with Korean BBQ sauce, sesame celeriac, apple and kimchi was rich and flavoursome. The pan-roasted barramundi with stir fried greens, black bean and spring onion dressing was another winner – one that we'll definitely be ordering again!

So whether you go for the brilliant value lunch deal option, or a few of the brand spankin' new menu additions, if you're looking for a killer lunch in Prahran, you won't regret a leisurely visit to The Smith. Now cue our stomachs rumbling in 3…2…1…
