Dandenong Market Is Throwing A Burger Party This Weekend

If you weren’t aware, this Sunday is National Burger Day, a time for all Australians to come together in harmony...and eat vast quad-patty stacks the size of our heads. And to celebrate this wondrous occasion, Dandenong Market is throwing a little burger party. Well, we say ‘little’. It’s more like an out of control burger orgy with extra bacon and zero regrets. Bring it on.

18 of the market’s stallholders have created original burgers to celebrate National Burger Day. Everything from an OTT schnitzel burger (fried egg, pineapple and beetroot BETWEEN two golden-crumbed schnitzel fillets) to the Teriyaki Sushi Burger (rice buns topped with nori and stuffed with ruby-red salmon). There’s even a Malaysian Kueh burger for the spice fiends out there.

Visitors to the market each get a Burger Passport, which gets stamped for every burger you gobble down. Each stamp puts you in the running to win a $500 voucher to the Dandenong Markets. There's also the chance to become 'Burger Royalty' by tackling the Freak Force Burger: a four-patty monster created by Instagram burger sensation Damien Egan (pictured).

Sweet tooths, they haven’t forgotten about you either. There’ll be a big range of dessert burgers, including a Doughnut Burger from Dandee Donuts that sounds frankly terrifying: A Tim Tam ‘patty’ with hot jam and cream, sandwiched inside a steaming cinnamon doughnut ‘bun’. Sweet mother of God...

Need a kicker? How about this. Market favourite, The Grill, are giving away 100 FREE burgers to one lucky winner (the only condition is you have a year in which to eat them). You can enter on Dandenong Market’s Facebook page.
