After weak winds, the Iron Fleet hadn’t been able to reach the shores of Melbourne the past couple of years, however, Game of Rhones is back for 2019 to celebrate the great varieties of the Rhone Valley. See the culmination of Australian, New Zealand and some of the worlds top winemakers to commemorate the nectar of the gods (red wine that is). Don’t stress non-red lovers, there are a couple of whites that highlight the line up as well.
Plus, these guys are known to go absolutely bonkers on references and we love it. Expect plenty of Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvedre, Carignan, Cinsault and more battling it out in a combative celebration that sees country versus country, producer versus producer and region versus region compete to decide if there really is one wine to rule them all (hopefully one doesn’t have three dragons and completely destroy Westeros).
Unfortunately, this will be the final Game of Rhones we are gifted with here in Australia so be sure to grab a ticket and assemble your Night’s Watch, Unsullied or Golden Company to join you for an afternoon or night sipping wines and enjoying some of the delectable foods on offer.
Can’t wait? You can sneak a cheeky look at the line up here if you're too excited.
