It's time to fish out the loudest boardies from the bottom of your wardrobe – Boardies Day is just around the corner! The annual fundraising event, falling on Friday 28th March, encourages all to don their finest boardshorts to raise vital funds for Surf Life Saving Clubs across Australia.
It doesn't matter who you are or what you do – everyone's encouraged to get involved. And, frankly, we can't wait to see boardies in the boardroom.
But hold your horses, don't shimmy them on just yet! The first step is to register online: you'll receive an information and promo kit to help you spread the word, as well as a personalised online fundraising page (so you can forward that URL like nobody's business!)
The next step is fundraising: you can set up a sausage sizzle, run a competition for the very best (worst?) boardies, or just rattle an old tin around the office. After a kookier way to make a couple of bucks? The Boardies Day website suggests holding your boss captive and having your colleagues donate to 'rescue' him/her. While this sounds more like a hostage situation (read: not advised), try to get creative and have some fun while doing your bit to help out the lifesavers.
Once you've raised the funds, donating is simple. You can either donate directly to your favourite Surf Life Saving Club, or allocate it to priority lifesaving services in your state. Easy Peasy.
If wearing your boardies to the office isn't incentive enough to participate, there are plenty of prizes up for grabs with highest fundraiser categories for workplaces and schools. What's more, Australia's favourite burger chain Grill'd is offering up a FREE burger to all those who register online. So what are you waiting for? Jump aboardies and sign up here.
