You’ve probably tried many a taco in your short, pico de gallo-filled life. Perhaps you consider yourself a taco aficionado (lawl, who doesn’t?). If you fall into either of these categories, we’ve got the best news of 2017 for you.
Our favourite Melbourne food truck, La Revolucion, has created a special gold leaf taco for when your tastebuds (and belly) deserves some #luxury. Featuring gold leaves and white truffle oil (it’s the good stuff), you’ll be served up a blue corn tortilla from La Tortilleria which is filled with roquette, salsa verde and scotch fillet steak marinated in chimichurri. It’ll be like that time you turned eighteen.
You’ll have to have your elbows ready, because there’ll be a super limited number of gold leaf tacos available at La Revolucion during each trade (we hear it’s no more than five). Each of these babies go for $35, but since each gram of gold leaf costs $100, you’re practically eating your money back.
If you can’t fork out the $35 (we know there’s Aldi wine to buy), La Revolucion also offer modern Latin tacos with slow cooked pulled beef, tender chicken and roasted corn. Nachos are served with sour cream, criolla salsa, cheese sauce and your choice of roasted corn or black beans. Treat yo’self and add some pulled beef and guacamole.
Salads, loaded fries (extra jalapenos, always) and thick cut provenzal chips are some other highlights of the menu. Look out for the bright yellow food truck and the Mexican wrestler for your next feed, or you can find La Revolucion via their Facebook page.
