As if Prahran didn't already have enough to offer (what with the plethora of fashion boutiques, designer stores and cute cafes), it just had to show off a little bit more with the Greville Village Market.
Launching this Sunday, this open-air market will showcase all that Greville Street has to offer in the way of independent designers and creators alike. There'll be jewellery, art, homewares and fashion, as well as those left-of-centre market gimmicks you all know and love, like a make-your-own pinata workshop, local DJ's keeping beats fresh, and on-the-spot grants awarded to anyone who can think of creative projects on the spot (spontaneous Bollywood exercise class anyone?).
The great thing about the market is that all the local stores are getting involved as well: Lunar Store is having a pop-up cacti stand, the fashion mavens from Fool are offering 30% off; and Coco Cubano are putting on some live music in the afternoon (with mojitos, natch). Food will also be in the mix: Palate Restaurant Bar are providing paleo-friendly take-away, while those of the carnivorous creed can lurk around Ladro's infamous lamb spit roast.
So, what better way to celebrate the turn of Spring than by popping on down to Greville Street for sunshine, shopping and celebrations on September 1st. Oh, and never fear – if you miss this weekend, it'll be on again on the first and third Sunday of every month.
