There’s A Spooky Halloween Carnival Coming To Melbourne Next Month

By James Shackell - 07 Sep 2018

Halloween in Melbourne doesn’t exactly go off does it? I mean, there’s some half-hearted trick or treating, and everyone has one friend who gets way too invested and organises a big house party. But that’s pretty much it.

This year, though—this year is different. Melbourne’s getting an actual Halloween festival, and it actually sounds mildly scary.

It’s called Hauntville (good name), and it’ll be rocking into town from 19 – 28 October at Burnley Circus Park.

So what can we expect? There’ll be two separate haunted house venues to check out, plus a Witches’ Cauldron-themed Friday night bar. There’s gonna be a food festival, spooky performers and heaps of live entertainment. Pumpkins will almost certainly be involved.

So, the two haunted houses. One’s called Cirque du Slay (amazing), and it’ll be stacked full of creepy clowns. The other will be called Yarra River Coffinworks (less amazing), and will be styled like an abandoned coffin factory. With zombies.

If you need to calm your nerves after the hellish clown house, there’ll be food trucks and pop-up bars on-site. ‘Spooky Sangria’ and ‘Pumpkin Ale’ will be served from bubbling cauldrons.

Entry to the festival grounds is FREE, which is a nice surprise, but you’ll have to pay to get into the haunted houses. We recommend booking ahead here.

This might be the only event where ghosting is actively encouraged.
