Wine, cheese and really fluffy animals—they’re three key ingredients for a helluva long weekend. To celebrate the last long weekend you’re going to see in a while (and Queen Lizzie’s B’day), you might as well make the most of it with Wine and Wildlife, an event that’s exactly as its name suggests.
If you’ve never been to the Yarra Valley (or even if you have), the long weekend is the perfect time to gather your wolf pack, bundle into a car and take a road trip barely 60 clicks up the road to Healesville.
The smartie pants at Healesville Sanctuary are gathering all the best bits of the region, and are hosting the ideal weekend—Wine and Wildlife.
There’ll be four pavilions chock-a-block with all the best local wineries, breweries and winter food. The menu is hearty and extensive—and is just the sort of fare you’ll want to wash down with a cider or a warming red wine. Kick back by an open fire, with a roast roll in one hand, and a glass of wine in the other, and enjoy some live acoustic music too.
The best bit? The sanctuary keepers will be roaming around with their furry, feathery and scaly friends, giving you the chance to get up close and personal (and get a killer Insta).
Tastings are free with your general admission, so you can wander through the sanctuary while you’re there and explore the full sanctuary.
