Tell your Nonna to put on her best frock – there's a new Italian bar and cafe set to open in Melbourne.
The team behind two of Melbourne's best cafes, northside favourites, Wide Open Road and A Minor Place, are opening Heartattack and Vine on Lygon Street this October. A modern take on the Venetian cicchetti bar, Heartattack and Vine will serve up fresh espresso, rustic Italian fare and fine vino all day long. And boy, is it lookin' mighty fine.
It's set to be an all-day affair at Heartattack and Vine, combining Wide Open Road's specialist approach to coffee with the tried-and-true model of Italian hospitality. Opening at 7am, Heartattack and Vine will the perfect spot to drop in for a quick pastry and espresso before work (enjoyed standing at the bar, Italiano style), or sit down for hearty lunch of traditional, uncomplicated Roman street food. Think porchetta (pork loin and belly, rolled and slow roasted) straight out of the oven, piled on to a warm ciabatta roll. We've also heard rumours of a prawn brioche bun. Drool. Come evening time, Heartattack and Vine will be all about the wine, offering up fine vino and cicchetti, the moreish Italian-style bar food traditionally served in Venice.
Set to open October 22nd, this is one Italian eatery and bar we can't wait to acquaint ourselves with!
