Is your idea of a weekend well spent filled with gut-wrenching fear? If so, you’re going to want to book in for the incredible Horror Movie Campout, a camping festival for all things gore, paranormal and generally horrifically terrifying, held at Point Cook Homestead this summer.
The Horror Movie Campout is an overnight camping experience that brings together camping (your tent is provided), classic horror films, new fright shorts and ‘immersive entertainment’, ie. getting totally freaked out in the middle of a forest by a cast of zombies, axe murderers, cannibals and the like.
The event has already confirmed an open-air showing of the 1973 classic ‘The Exorcist’ and will include more films to the line-up as the date approaches, including some amazing local and international shorts, and a ‘campers’ choice’ film, as voted for before the fright-filled weekend.
Yes, there’s traditional festival-style camping, but if you’re the glamping sort, you can upgrade your ticket to include VIP seating at the horror film screenings as well as access to a VIP campsite. The Horror Movie Campout team has assured us that we’ll ‘love the ambiance.’ Is ‘ambiance’ code for ‘Blair Witch-style all-night anxiety,’ guys?
The festival takes place on 4 and 5 December, with tickets for single nights available from $180 for up to three campers (that's a bargain of $60 each!). Expect an experience that you won’t forget in a hurry that’s equal parts toasting marshmallows around the campfire and trying not to hug your mate with fear.
