Following on from the unsurprising news that more Melburnians drink craft beer than anyone else in the country, Laneway Festival today announce that they will be bringing the best craft beers - and some great local food offerings - to the event this year.
Known not only for its eclectic mix of emerging musical talent, Laneway Festival returns in 2016 with a mouth-watering range of culinary delights and carefully chosen craft beers in each city. Let's start with the food, shall we?
Buzz-a-saurus Mr Miyagi will be there with their unique take on Japanese food as a feature restaurant partner in 2016 (please bring the nori taco, please bring the nori taco...), as well as our Melbourne food truck staples, BeatBox Kitchen and Taco Truck. Burn City Smokers will bring us some of their A+ beef short ribs, and Chillbro Paletas are delivering their anything-on-a-stick menu.
Want more? You got it. Slice Girls West, Franklins Classic American, Gelato Messina, Gyoza Records, Juanita Peaches, Kaisers Sausages, Mr Calamaro, Nuoc Mama's, Rice and Dice, Sliders on Tyres, St. Jerry’s, STKBB Food Truck, and Those Guys Food (phew!) will round out an epic food offering. Now there's no excuse to go hungry on festival day.
Laneway have also got craft beer galore on tap for you posh beer drinkers out there: Byron Bay’s own handcrafted brewery Stone & Wood will joint locals Temple Brewery and West City Brewing. This is shaping up to be a foodie's dream... And we have our new favourite hero and festival guru Jerome Borazio to thank.
"We've worked really hard on establishing a great lineup of food for the festival," Borazio told us. "Each year we're improving our offering through hand-picking the vendors that we know will really make something great - this year's food will definitely show that. It’s also the first time we’ve offered Craft Beer so we’re pretty excited to be able to showcase some of the best beers in the country"
Meanwhile, if you're after a spot of shopping (hey, why not), Vinyl masters Polyester Records will be on hand with a selection of signed vinyl, and local art and design markets Bend and Snap have got you covered in the threads department on the day.
Laneway Festival is coming, and summer is looking really, really good.
Laneway Festival will be held on Saturday, 13 February at Footscray Community Arts Centre, Melbourne. For more info and lineup details check out their website.
