If you’re a fan of music and meat, then Meatstock is the festival you’ve been waiting for.
For the unfamiliar, Meatstock is returning to Melbourne for its third run. Over two massive days in March, Meatstock will serve up some of the biggest names in the barbecue world, including Brad Leighninger, Tim Scheer, and their barbecue teams which are ranked #1, and $3 in the USA respectively.
On the local front, you can catch Hillbilly Wes, Australia’s celebrity pitmaster.
Wes is the man mountain behind Sydney’s Bovine & Swine Barbecue Co. which has driven many a visitor to come down with a case of the meat sweats.
Fifty teams from Australia and five international teams from the USA will battle it out in the A&E Melbourne Barbecue Wars for $12,000 in cash and prizes, as well being crowned the best barbecuers in the country.
Alongside the barbecue festivities you’ll find more than twenty butchers battling it out head to head to be crowned Melbourne’s best butcher, and a competition titled “Culley’s King of the Cue” which will see competitors using a traditional BBQ to cook up burgers, wings, steak, and bacon, where the winner will head over to Texas to represent Australia in the World Steak Championships.
There will be plenty of food to get stuck into, bourbon, and beer, alongside musical guests such as Bob Evans, The Long Johns, Adrian Eagle, and many more.
