Get ready to mangle the pronunciation of ‘Pierogi’, because Melbourne’s massive Polish Festival is coming back to Fed Square next month.
This is the event’s 13th year running, and it’s promising 200% more Polish-ness than ever before (not an actual promise, but you get the idea).
Seriously though, the event organisers look like they’re going all out. They’ve brought your favourite Polish folk group, Tekla Klebetnica, all the way to Aus, who'll be rocking the stage with local Polish acts like jazz pianist Andrzej Jagodzinski.
Enough about jazz—you want to know about food, right? Well the guys from Pierogi Pierogi will be on-hand, slinging (you guess it) sh*t-tonnes of Pierogi. Uncles Small Goods in Dandenong are bringing the Polish small goods and smoked meats (you’ve gotta try their smoked Kielbasa sausage). Melbourne’s first Polish food truck, Zapiekanka, will also be stopping by, serving their famous open sandwich (think a footlong drunken Polish pizza, piled high with cheese, herbs and tomato sauce).
Basically, it’s going to be as much Poland as you can get in one place, without actually being in Poland.
Where: Federation Square
When: 10am – 5pm, Sunday 12 November
