Summer is almost upon us, Melburnians - and that means outdoor cinema season! This year Melbourne’s laneway shopping precinct QV will welcome a cinema pop-up so that you can kick back and enjoy the flicks. And you can even bring your pooch!
Melbourne filmmaker and programmer Gus Berger has curated the QV Cinema film season which will feature festive flicks in December, Aussie movies around Australia Day, a Melbourne Independent Film focus in February, plus a selection of 80s flashback favourites to boot.
Opening Tuesday 1 December with a free screening of The Devil Wears Prada, the QV Outdoor Cinema will be set on the astroturf outside the Queen Victoria’s Womens Centre. Pull up a deckchair and get ready for a live acrobatic performance before the film from Santa’s Christmas Spectacular, and Melbourne DJ Chiara Kickdrum on the laneway decks.
Moviegoers are also encouraged to bring their pooches along on 12 December, as the season will host a best dressed dogs competition during a fundraiser screening of Best In Show. As a bonus to watching all the cuteness overload of pooches in partywear, all proceeds for the screening will go to The Lost Dogs’ Home.
Bookings for the opening night are sure to disappear fast, so get in quick and reserve your spot! For a full list of the QV Outdoor Cinema program and all ticket bookings head to QV Cinema Melbourne.
QV Outdoor Cinema runs Thursday - Sunday from 1 December 2015 - February 2016 at QV Square Level 2, QV Melbourne, corner of Lonsdale and Swanston Streets.
