If you've got a sweet tooth then we have the festival for you: Sweetfest is a two day festival celebrating all things baked, fried, whipped, iced, and generally covered in sugary goodness. Just don't tell your dentist...
You'll find stalls from Luxbite, Bibelot, Ganache Chocolates and Gelato Messina - the latter of which will be busting out mini versions of their trademark magic mushroom ice cream cakes. Can anyone say #instaporn?!
Speaking of Instagram, Sydney-based #instaworthy cake boss Katherine Sabbath will be showing us how to make her watercolour cake on Saturday, and her kawaii harajuku burger cupcakes on Sunday. If you're a Masterchef fan, you'll probably want to pop along to watch Philippa Sibley (creator of the Snickers dessert) tell us all about the baking essentials we're getting wrong. Meanwhile, New York's iconic Big Gay Ice Cream will be delivering a masterclass demo of their legendary Choinkwich – the chocolate and caramelised bacon ice cream sandwich of your dreams. YES, WE SAID BACON ICE CREAM SANDWICH.
Sydney’s famed Black Star Pastry will be there as well with their sell-out strawberry watermelon cake, and you can also watch owner Christopher Thé show us how to make said cake on Saturday morning.
Tickets to the event are just $20pp and include a complimentary glass of Redbank Emily Brut Cuvée. Which is clearly a required accompaniment... See you there, then?
Sweetfest runs from November 28 to 29 at the Meat Market in North Melbourne as part of The Age Good Food Month presented by Citi. To purchase tickets click here.
