Studio Ghibli needs no introduction. Hayao Miyazaki has been the powerhouse behind the Japanese animation house, and now you’ll get the chance to see Melbourne Symphony Orchestra belt out classic scores from movies like Howl’s Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, and more.
The event will celebrate legendary composer-conductor Joe Hisaishi who will conduct the MSO through scores, and montages of the famous films.
Hisaishi and Miyazaki have worked together for more than 30 years across nine Studio Ghibli films.
Completing the concert will be a full children’s choir and marching band which will bring the films to life on stage.
Hisaishi’s previous trip to Melbourne in 2018 featured four sold-out concerts with the MSO.
