Clear your diaries because something fishy is coming to the city...
This year, SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium is launching an immersive new $1.5 million jellyfish exhibition that will be open to the public on December 12, 2019.
Don't be deceived: jellyfish aren’t just those annoying sea creatures that sting you in the sea during summer. This sensory experience will put these mysterious critters in the spotlight with three zones to explore, featuring thousands of jellyfish of all different and weird looking shapes, sizes and colours. Ocean Invaders will feature mesmerising lighting projections, interactive activities for the kids and even a transparent sphere you can crawl through, filled with the gelatinous creatures we all love to hate.
The exhibition will also educate guests about the rapidly increasing populations in certain types and what people can do to limit this exponential growth. This intriguing installation will see the likes of the blue blubber jellyfish, the upside-down jellyfish and the lion’s mane jellyfish, with more species being added in right up until the launch.
You are guaranteed to come out a complete jellyfish know-it-all, after learning the ins and outs of the ocean’s most perplexing animals; just in time for a summer on the beach amongst the blubbery things.
Get together your fishy friends and get your dose of jelly at SEA LIFE this December.
