Heads Up, Pope Joan Just Confirmed Its CBD Location Is Here To Stay

When it was announced in early 2018 that Pope Joan would be closing its doors for good, there were many angry stomachs growling. Six months later, it temporarily resurrected as a summer pop-up from February until early April. Since then, there have been rumblings about a potentially permanent resurrection but nothing had been set in stone—Pope Joan has basically been operating in some sort of hazy restaurant limbo.

Well, it’s time to put all that unease to rest because we can finally confirm that Pope Joan is here to stay.

“I am insanely excited. It’s a dream come true to re-open Pope Joan, I’ve missed her,” says chef Matt Wilkinson. “I’ve been really overwhelmed by the response from the public, and I’m so stoked that we can keep the doors open permanently.”

We missed her too, Matt.

Pope Joan will be open at its Softel On Collins location at 45 Collins Street from 7am until 9pm, so expect breakfast and dinner options aplenty.

Dig into granola, rice pudding, as well as boiled eggs with soldiers, and options like fried eggs, hummus, and pickled red kraut. For lunch and dinner, you can feast on sardines on toast, oysters, local mussels, hanger steak, and of course, Pope’s award-winning sandwiches.

The drinks menu will also continue to be jam-packed with a selection of cocktails (including Wilkinson’s crazy-good dirty martini and Four Pillars G&Ts) and spritzes, alongside a list of curated wines, beers and booze-free tipples.

We’re heading over there right now.
