Something fishy is happening at South Melbourne Market this March. But don’t clam up, because fishy isn’t bad. What the heck are we talking about? The Port Phillip Mussel Festival of course!
On Saturday the 7th and Sunday the 8th of March, the Port Phillip Mussel Festival will be hitting Cecil Street with live jazz music, entertainment, and some mighty tasty mussels!
Aimed at shellebrating local produce, the mussels come from Port Phillip Bay, so get excited to get your hands on some buckets full of mussels, some piping hot mussel paella, wok-cooked drunken mussels and more!
All your favourite Melbourne chefs are diving in, with deep-sea delights being served up by St Ali, Mr Lawrence, Dandelion, Claypots Evening Star, Simply Spanish and Acland Street Cantina, just to name a few. We can’t wait to see what they crack open! It’s not all seafood though; there will be artisan ice cream, greek donuts and ice-cold sangria, too (after a few of those, you might even risk showing off your impressive mussels).
Bring the kids—there’s loads to keep them occupied, from face painting to family friendly entertainment, and a live performance or ten for the adults, too!
Don’t be shellfish, tell your friends and family to tag along to this absolute pearl of a street festival!
