Last summer, Peninsula-goers were greeted with the new look Portsea Hotel, in what had been the biggest renovation in the famous pub’s history.
Now, over the colder months, the team at the help of the Portsea Hotel have been hard at work making more improvements to the historic hotel so it’s ready for a packed spring and summer period.
The pub welcomes a new chef in Jonathan Alston who has experience working at Stokehouse, and with The Lucas Group, and also Scott Elvery who joins as General Manager.
“Portsea Hotel is an iconic, world-class beachfront venue and we now have the team who can elevate this important Mornington Peninsula establishment to the next level,” says Alston.
“Everything is now so diversified from the menu and various food offerings taking shape to the venue itself. We’re so excited to welcome people in.”
Changes you’ll notice from last summer include new service points—because we need beer, and we need it now—with six new bars, and a kitchen that is now triple the size it was previously.

Two massive new wood-fired pizza ovens have been installed to keep the pizzas coming over the warmer months. Fatto Da Mamma will be dishing up some of the best pizza on the Peninsula.
“We have sourced the finest Australian-made Neapolitan-style ovens made entirely from Australian products fabricated to spec right here in Victoria. The pizzas themselves will be made using only the highest calibre of products ensuring the quality of the finished product is second to none”, says de Lutiis.
The Portsea Hotel team assure us there are more announcements to come, to keep your eyes peeled and get ready for a massive summer on the Peninsula.
