PSA: There’s An Epic Apres-Ski Festival On This Weekend

Heads up, hot toddies. Melbourne’s getting an apres-ski festival this Saturday. It’s called the Winter Games, and it’s coming to you live, courtesy of the legends at Section 8.

What does that mean exactly?

It means fake snow, real emotions, Auchentoshan Single Malt Whisky and Coors beer flowing from icebergs all night long, plus a DJ lineup curated by Melbourne’s hottest disc-jockey, Pjenné.

Oh yeah, it gets better. Section 8 are encouraging everyone to rock up in “ugly sweatshirts” (which we’re pretty sure means daggy Christmas jumpers) and ski lycra. The ugliest jumper wins an ice sculpture and a meat tray, or possibly an ice sculpture in the shape of a meat tray. Either way, it'll be awesome. Entry is free and the frivolities kick off from 3pm. FYI: if you come dressed as Mr Plow the Melbourne City Council will probably erect a small statue in your honour. Just sayin’.

No doubt about it—Melbourne's turning it on this winter. Make sure you get along to the Gertrude St Projection Festival, pronto.
