It’s not unusual to catch a character rollerblading around the Esplanade at St Kilda. But, until now, to join in you had to head out and buy a pair yourself, or somehow inherit a classic retro pair of roller skates.
That’s all changed now with the opening of a classic retro caravan that’s hiring out new sets of wheels on the St Kilda foreshore.
Rolla Bae’s ethos is all about ‘championing the pleasure-seeking past time and modern revival of roller skating it’s all about switching off, letting your hair down and creating carefree fun’. Hiring a pair or Impala roller skates, or blades costs $25 for one hour, $60 for a half-day, or $95 if you want to roll on all day long. You can choose from leopard, aqua, hologram, or pink wheels when you pick them up.
The Rolla Bae team aren’t there to just send you on your way aimlessly either, they can point out some great routes to hit up which include St Kilda icons such as The Espy, Luna Park, and the areas amazing cake shops.
If you’re a beginner, don’t worry, Rolla Bae has you covered there too with tips and tricks to get you skating like the pros. They run regular skate sessions, as well as dance and skate workshops.
