One of Melbourne’s biggest restaurant names, chef Andrew McConnell, has teamed up with butcher Troy Wheeler to bring a carnivore’s dream to Fitzroy next week.
Meatsmith will offer a range of cooked and cured meats, small goods and charcuterie, with additional items to draw out those sumptuous flavours, including premium salts, oils, spices and house-made sauces.
McConnell, owner of Melbourne favourites Cumulus Inc, Cutler & Co, Builders Arms Hotel, Moon Under Water, Supernormal and Luxembourg Bar and Bistro (phew!) teamed up with Wheeler three years ago and has since seen him deliver the goods at Builders Arms, while also providing extensive training to McConnell’s team of chefs in the art of butchery.
Working with some of Melbourne’s finest food producers (think Lune Croissanterie’s puffed pastry delights featuring Meatsmith’s Tamworth pork), we only expect to see the Meatsmith name become a local love for businesses and the public alike.
The store will also stock a small selection of boutique wines to pair with your purchases, because if we’re going to indulge here, we will spare no ounce of the experience.
Meatsmith Specialty Butcher and Wine Merchant will open October 13th at 273 Smith Street, Fitzroy.
