We’ve got rooftop bars, rooftop restaurants, rooftop cinemas, rooftop pools…So to be honest, Listers, we weren’t that excited about this new opening when we first heard about it. UNTIL WE REALISED IT INVOLVES CAMPING ON A ROOFTOP. Yes, it’s true. Melbourne’s newest sleepover venue (or hotel, whatever), St Jerome’s – The Hotel, isn’t inside a fancy-schmancy building in our beautiful CBD, it’s on one of its glorious rooftops.
The brainchild of Jerome Borazio (he of Jerome’s Laneway Festival, 1000£ Bend and The Church of Bang Bang Boogaloo fame), St Jerome’s – The Hotel will be situated on top of the Melbourne Central building, slap bang in the middle of Melbourne. Comprised of 25 luxury bell tents, this ain’t your regular night in a bivvy bag, folks! Luckily for visitors, Jerome has enlisted the help of Deon St.Mor, the founder of MOR Cosmetics, with the creative side of the entire operation. You can bet St Jerome’s – The Hotel is going to be a thing of beauty and splendour, that’s for sure!
On top of the decked-out designer tents, the hotel will include a rooftop garden area, delicious breakfast hampers, dawn meditation and Tai Chi classes, and a 24-hour concierge service. We’ve heard there’ll be heaps of other luxury goodies awaiting guests’ arrival too. As for what they are? It’s a mystery—you’ll have to book in to find out.
The whole shebang opens on 20th May. You KNOW this one is going to fill up quickly, so make sure you drop them a line via the website to be in with a chance of booking a room…No, wait. Booking a TENT. On a rooftop. Best. Idea. Ever.
