Okay, guys. If you really want to see this you have to get in quick. Due to insanely popular demand, the MSO has added new performance dates for their Star Wars concert series. And this time it’s flipping Empire.
Now if you don’t know what all the fuss is about. The MSO kicked off a series of Star Wars concerts last year with The Force Awakens, followed by A New Hope in February. Basically the orchestra plays along to the movies...while your neural pathways go into pleasure meltdown and you inner 13-year old cartwheels into the sunset.
MSO conductor Nicholas Buc actually says The Empire Strikes Back is his personal favourite Star Wars score.
“As well as being a fan favourite of the series, The Empire Strikes Back introduces perhaps the greatest villain’s theme in cinematic history—The Imperial March. Williams’ bombastic music for Darth Vadar has come to represent everything evil in Star Wars,” he said.
Like most of the MSO movie concerts, it’s all happening at The Plenary, which is the massive auditorium next to Jeff’s Shed (if you didn’t know). The new dates announced are Friday 14 December and a matinee at 1pm, Saturday 15 December. The original showings (7:30pm Sat 15 Dec & 1pm Sun 16 Dec) are both nearing capacity.
Set your course for the Hoth System and book immediately.
Where: The Plenary, Melbourne Exhibition Centre
When: Friday 14 December (7:30pm), Saturday 15 December (1pm & 7:30pm), Sunday 16 December (1pm)
