There’s A 1920s Cocktail Lounge Popping Up Inside Werribee Mansion

Werribee gets overlooked by a lot of Melbourne tourists, which is a shame. There’s an excellent Maccas...and The Mynt Lounge...and The Commercial Hotel (mostly old men and old carpets), plus who could forget the Centrelink carpark on a Friday morning?

(FYI we got some help on this article from our token Urban List Werribee resident. For all we know, Melbourne falls into a dark abyss once you get past Footscray).

But now there’s a new reason to visit Werribee. It’s called Mary’s Secret—a 1920s balcony cocktail lounge that’s popped up inside the beautiful Chirnside Mansion (which is also known as the Werribee Mansion, which is also known as the Mansion Hotel & Spa. It’s all very confusing).

Mary’s Secret is opening up on a historic balcony that was previously closed to the public. It’ll be running every Friday and Saturday evening from 25 May to 16 June. The whole thing is a partnership between Chirnside Manion, The Everleigh Bottling Co. and G.H. Mumm. That means (you guessed it), elegant batch cocktails, free-flowing French Champagne and some properly scrumptious canapés. It’s all very Great Gatsby...if Gatsby lived really close to Residence nightclub.

Mary’s was styled by the guys at LENZO, and if you’ve seen their Insta feed, you’ll have a pretty good idea what you’re in for. OTT elegance with a sprinkling of sequins.

Chirnside Mansion is offering a few different packages if you want to check out Mary’s Secret. You can grab a mansion tour with drinks for $79.50 or sign up for full-blown girl gang getaway. BYO feather boa. Grab tickets over here.
