5 Awesome Things to do in Melbourne This Week

As per usual, there’s a-plenty to do in Melbourne this week Listers! From shopping to eating, here are the best events in our city.

If you’re as impatient for food as us Listers, you’ll be pleased to know one of Melbourne’s most highly anticipated restaurants is hosting a sneak menu preview this Monday at Filter in the CBD. Yep—set to be one of Melbourne’s best restaurants, Lûmé is giving the public the opportunity to taste their contemporary, delicately designed menu before their launch later this month! A mere $35 will get you a main course with matched wine, cocktail on arrival, filtered coffee and petit four. A bargain, considering this restaurant is going to GO OFF when they launch! No bookings, walk in only.

Fed Square festival The Light in Winter returns for three weeks from Monday and A Molecule of Light is the event we’re most excited about. Renowned British artist Chris Levine will be showcasing an incredible 9-metre high laser isntallation as part of the celebrations, before heading back to the UK to create a light portrait of the Dalai Lama in celebration of his 80th birthday. Levine is a world expert in lasers, photography and holograms so expect one spectacular lightshow at the opening this Monday, which kicks off at 5.30pm.

The Pope Joan Winter Feast series kicks off this week, running every weeknight throughout June as part of MFWF’s Roast Collection. The star of the show this week is a drool-worthy slow-cooked Dorper lamb shoulder with mint sauce and spuds—what a way to welcome winter right?! It’s $60 pp, but if you’re feeling particularly cold, splurge a little on matching Fowles Wine with your meal, because like, why not? To book call 03 9388 8858 or email

Finally, the wait is over! QVM's Winter Night Market officially opens this Wednesday and runs until late August (so every Wednesday night from now until then should be sorted amirite?). There are so many exciting street vendors on show, you’ll probably need more than one visit to taste test them all…‘cause you’re going to want it all. Little Mushroom Co, 400 Gradi and the oh-so-fine Cheese & Wine Bar are just a few of the honoured guests. Hump day will be a piece of cake with Melbourne events like these!

50 per cent off. 50 PER CENT OFF. This is your perfect opportunity (excuse) to stock up on a shiny, brand new winter wardrobe with prices like these. The discounted items at the Jac + Jack winter sale includes cashmere and superfine merino knitwear, sweaters, shirts, shawls, scarfs, denim and lots and lots of the smoothest soft silk imaginable. The sale is in store and online, while stock lasts. Yeah, we’re clearing our diaries for Thursday too.
