5 Things To Keep Your Small Human Entertained These School Holidays

School holidays have arrived once again, and whether you’ve managed to snag some time off or shipped the kids off to their grandparents you’re probably in the market for things to keep them entertained over the fortnight.

Here are some great events that will keep them busy slash stop them from drawing all over your walls.

Teddy Vet Checks

Parkville, Werribee & Healesville

Not only are Victoria’s Zoos amazing places to go any day of the year, but from September 17 – October 2 they’re running Teddy Vet Checks at Werribee Open Range Zoo, Melbourne Zoo & Healesville Sanctuary. Kids will pretend to be a Vet, diagnosing their teddies, bandaging them up and giving them special care all while learning how the amazing animals at the three zoos are cared for by Zoos Victoria’s dedicated Veterinarians. They will also get a Teddy Vet Check certificate to take home!

Head to the historic site of the Eureka Stockade in Ballarat and visit the Museum Of Australian Democracy At Eureka to enjoy the spring weather in their Memorial Park and experience the museum in a fun and kid-friendly way with a spring scavenger search.

Then become a curator by making some spring craft and adding them for exhibition in M.A.D.E’s Kid Curated Corner. There is also some great food on offer at the in-house Saltbush Kitchen.

Healthy Burger Master Class

St Kilda East

The Grosvenor Hotel have launched a Kids Burger Masterclass series to help encourage healthy eating habits amongst kids. Lead by head chef Paul Tyas, each session will demonstrate how to make burgers a healthy meal choice and discuss what are the best ingredients for creating your ultimate burger masterpiece.

Royal Melbourne Show


September school holidays wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Royal Melbourne Show. Check out some of our favourites like the animal farmyard, dog high jump or tear into the every popular Bertie Beetle showbag. There is plenty on offer for big kids as well, and with food options like The Royale Brothers, Gelato Messina and Mr Miyagi you'll leave with a full stomach.

Book Factory At The Grand Imaginarium


The Industrial School at Abbotsford Convent will be turned into the Book Factory from September 26 – 30. Kids can work alongside special guest artists who will help them to create stories, characters or even the settings for their very own book.
