We’re serving up another round of weekend specials to make you froth. The menu is extensive and varied, from our old time favourites like street food markets and booze-focused festivals, to more unconventional events including a Tantra relationships workshop (yep) and a trail run to a brewery. 

Sounding all too mysterious? Well, you’ll just have to read on to find out what exactly is going down.

Appleton Estate Tasting Trail at Loop Roof

The good folk over at Appleton Estate know their rum. And they want to share it with YOU! Three weekends of tropical themed tasting is on the cards thanks to Appleton Estate’s epic tasting trail. Kicking off this weekend (tonight, in fact) the trail is starting at Loop Roof bar. No need to book, you can simply rock up and enjoy a range of super smooth rums served in a variety of ways. Getting in touch with its Jamaican roots, Appleton Estate will be decking the venue out with a luxe tropical surrounds—the perfect recipe to kick off the weekend.

Asian Street Food Weekend at the Preston Food Truck Park

The Preston Food Truck Park just doesn’t stop delivering the goods. This weekend they’ve got your favourite Asian food trucks, like Hello Saigon and Ghost Kitchen, cooking up a storm and, like always, Barry’s bar pouring the beer and cider.  Check out the Facebook event for all the deets.

Hawkers Markets at The Rendezvous Hotel Melbourne

Oh don’t we just love celebrating Asian street food? The Rendezvous Hotel will play host to a variety of food stations boasting the best of Singaporean street food cuisine like Laksa, curries and satay. For $15 you will get 2 dishes and a beverage. Pretty good, huh? Book your tickets here

Tantra Relationships Workshop

Fancy Hanks @ Four Pillars Distillery

Fancy Hanks are bringing their food truck to our favourite gin distillery, Four Pillars, this weekend. They’ll be serving delicious pulled pork rolls from 12-8pm on Saturday and 12pm-4pm on Sunday. With a sunny weekend forecast, we can’t think of a better way to spend it than with pulled pork and gin.

NGV Teen Art Party

Finally, an under 18’s event that all us adults can be jealous of! The NGV presents a rad night of music, dancing and creativity with performances by Left Leg Studio and Ella Thompson, drop-by workshops with contemporary artist Esther Olsson, and exclusive access to the Andy Warhol and Ai Weiwei exhibition. Friday 8th

Bavarian BrewFest At Munich Brauhaus

Calling all beer and cider lovers! The team at Munich Brauhaus is kicking off a month of epic Friday night beer releases with the very first BrewFest Release Party. This Friday evening from 5pm, get down to the South Wharf beer hub for heaps of delicious food, craft-brewed drinks and good times to celebrate the launch of the Crafty Bavarian Brewing Co.’s very first Good Pickin’s Apple Cider.

If you’re not a cider fan, don’t fret: The Munich team will have their usual mouth-watering pale ales, amber ales and Germanic lagers. Better yet, the first 200 people through the doors get a free collectors’ beer glass to keep! We know where we’ll be starting our weekend…

Giant Monopoly @ Box Hill Town Hall

Make a team with 9 of your mates and participate in a game of Monopoly on a whole new level. All funds raised will go support the Art Building Dream’s project, a great cause! Check out the Facebook event for all the deets. 

The opening night of ‘Women, Art, and Politics: What is a woman artist?’ 

Five talented female artists will showcase their works that build on the historiography of feminist and women’s art shows over four decades. The exhibition held at Footscray Community Arts Centre and is free, so there’s no excuse not to go and get cultured. Click here for further info. 

Saturday 9th

Sisters’ Market @ Brunswick Town Hall

Celebrating locally made handcrafts, including jewellery, ceramics, beauty products, art, shoes and clothing, Brunswick’s best artisan market makes its comeback for 2016. The market runs from 10am-4pm and entry will cost ya nothing. 

Introduction to Letterpress Workshop with Saint Gertrude Letterpress

Curious about the art of modern letterpress? This workshop is right up your alley. You will be well-prepped with a history of the process and demonstration before getting your hands inky. The workshop runs fro 10am-4pm at Little Gold Studios, Brunswick. Reserve a spot here

Yarra Valley Beer & Cider Festival @ Lilydale Showgrounds

Sample some of the finest boutique beer and cider that our great state has to offer at the inaugural Yarra Valley Beer & Cider Festival. Quality food stalls like the Two Fat Indians, Boss Burger & Shakes, and King of Spuds, as well as plenty of entertainment, will be there on the day. 

Sunday 10th 

Run To The Dog Beer and Trail Run

If there’s anything that’s going to tempt us to participate in a trail run, it would be that the final destination is a brewery, and you can bring your dog along. Yes, the Run To The Dog Beer and Trail Run offers both of these. You and your four-legged friend can choose between the 5km or 10km run. Moon Dog Craft Brewery is the finish line, where there will be live entertainment, some of Melbourne’s best food trucks and of course lots of beer. Register your spot here

Bike & Life Festival at Barkly Square

It’s all happening in Brunswick this week it seems! The Bike & Life Festival at Barkly Square is going to feature in-centre spin classes, pop-up stalls, bike servicing and tunes from DJ Mikey Cahill. Reserve your spot here for free craft bike workshop run by the talented craft-based designer, Kitiya Palaska. The event is happenin’ between 9am-3pm. 

Wine & Cheese Festival @ The Meat Market North Melbourne

Oh what a perfect pairing! With over 40 exhibitors showcasing the best wine and cheese from around the nation, your tastebuds will owe you one. Top this off with live music from a jazz band, a kiddies zone and a Grape Stomping Comp, and you’ve got yourself a wicked Sunday rendezvous. Further details are available here

Bunker presents Soft-Pedal 5

Kick back at Howler’s outdoor garden bar as they take a break from their techno roots to present the other side of electronic music including ambient, electronica and dub techno from some of Melbourne’s finest tastemaker and samplers. The event runs from 3pm-10:30pm and is free!
