Along with food and drink, artistic events and live entertainment, Melbourne’s market game is rather strong. While you won’t be hard pressed to find food, fashion and design markets throughout the year we’ve picked a list of ten market highlights to kick off with this spring.

Spring Flavour Exchange

Melbourne CBD

The winter night markets might be over but the Spring Flavour Exchange has got us covered, if only for a couple of extra evenings. A regional showcase of artisan produce from the Yarra Valley, boutique wines, craft beer and ciders, Flavour Exchange is sure to charm both hearts and palates as the sun goes down.

The Upmarket


Launching in the first week of September, Melbourne welcomes newcomer Upmarket to the scene. A fortnightly design market held at the Australian Centre for Contemporary art, Upmarket will showcase works by some of Melbourne’s best loved designers. The market will also focus on supporting emerging designers by devoting five rotating stalls to graduate and up-and-coming designers each week.

Market Week

Prahran | Melbourne CBD | Dandenong | South Melbourne

Combining Melbourne’s Prahran, Queen Victoria, Dandenong and South Melbourne markets, Market Week will pay host to 50+ free events. In it’s fifth year running the event will boast a new theme fit to the south side’s love of healthy living: ‘Shop well, eat well, live well’. There will be a range of food tastings, live music performances and for the more adventurous, free disco yoga and zumba sessions. Get amongst it!

Take 2

Melbourne CBD

For the vintage-thread inclined, Take 2 is the perfect way to indulge your love of secondhand wares. Held at the Queen Victoria Market, there will be oodles of dresses, coats, shoes, bags and belts amongst other fashionable delights to get your paws on.

Brocante Marche

Melbourne CBD

Embrace your inner Parisian and head along to Brocante Marche for a French inspired vintage market. A variety of local pieces including furniture, books, prints and clothing will be showcased, with a number of fine homewares sourced from France. Make a day of it and ensure to enjoy the culinary French delights on offer too. Mm-mm!

Vinyl Market at The Corner Hotel

Vinyl lovers unite and get ready to go hunting for your next set of tunes. Both new and sealed records will be up for grabs as well as a large collection of secondhand vinyl to suit a variety of tastes. Swing by The Corner Hotel to bag yourself a bargain at the vinyl market.

Slow Food Farmers Market


Slow it down and slink into those spring vibes with the Slow Food Farmers Market at the Abbotsford Convent. For those keen to discover sustainable food culture and the paddock-to-plate notion this is the market of choice. Engage with farmers first-hand, learn about the art of cultivating and cooking seasonally or simply come along to sink your teeth into the produce onsite.

Rose Street Market


By no means fresh meat on the market scene but still totally kicking goals from week to week is the Rose Street Market. One for the more intricate and feminine styled homeware fans, Rose Street will always have that little something special to gift a pal or treat yourself.

Totally Thomastown Twilight Market
