Urban Listers, let's get ready to rumble – the World Cup final is almost here!
Now before you go don your national jerseys, we should clarify – it's not sport we're talking about, it's this Saturday's Truffle Melbourne banquet hosted by East Melbourne's GG Restaurant.
The dinner will see three different chefs, of three different nationalities – culinary icon Philippe Mouchel, Nobu's Christopher Shane Chan, and GG's own Paul Dunlop – come together for five truffle-inspired courses that perfectly combine French, Asian and European cuisine. In our opinion, it's the World Cup of cooking!
We also caught a sneak peek of the Truffle Melbourne banquet menu and we won't lie – it's seriously good.
The banquet kicks off with prawn and black truffle chanwan-mushi – truffled scallops wrapped in filo pastry and truffle vinaigrette – before moving on to a second course of wild barramundi, truffle crust, porcini mushroom ragout and champagne jus. See, we told you the menu was good!
Third course gets even better with juicy Lilydale truffled chicken breast, winter vegies, a slow poached egg and roast chicken dashi just waiting to devoured.
And because GG Restaurant and the Truffle Melbourne team couldn't decide between cheese or something sweet for dessert, they chose to do both – truffle Fromage de Meaux (a creamy, brie style cheese) for fourth course, and then truffled ice nougat, lemongrass milk and coconut sorbet to finish. Wowee!
Now we all now a banquet ain't a banquet if there's no wine to wash it down, right? Right. Truffle Melbourne and GG Restaurant have taken care of that too, with all five courses matched with a wine from Yarra Valley based winery, Levantine Hill.
Considering the menu that's on offer, it comes as no surprise that Truffle Melbourne banquets have always sold out in the past. There's still a handful of tickets left to the exclusive truffle event at GG Restaurant, so best you get booking now!
