Uber Competitor Taxify Launches In Melbourne Today

The game has officially changed as of today, no longer is Uber you’re the only competitor to the taxi throne with Taxify expanding into the world’s most liveable city.

Taxify is Europe’s fastest growing ride-share app and is launching in Melbourne off the back of their success in Sydney so far.

CEO of Taxify Markus Villig said “Following huge popular demand for Taxify in NSW with tens of thousands of app downloads in just the first day of launching, we are excited to expand to Melbourne. With locals looking for alternative ride-sharing options, Taxify is dedicated to providing competition and choice to both riders and drivers in Australia. Whilst Taxify will be cheaper than other ride-share providers approximately by 5%, we also offer a better deal to drivers with substantially lower commissions.”

Ahead of their launch, they’ve already had more than 10,000 drivers registered to take you to where you need to go in Melbourne. The company only takes a 15% commission from drivers which apparently is almost half of that taken by Uber. In turn, this allows Taxify to keep a lower fare rate and more cash for the driver.

To celebrate their launch Taxify is offering a 50% discount to Melbourne riders for the launch period.

You can download the app now for iOS and Android, and to find out more about Taxify head here.
