If you haven’t tried an Uncle Tetsu cheesecake yet, let’s paint you a word picture. Imagine a wobbly sponge, still warm from the steamer, with a sweet custard-y flavour and the silky texture of a cartoon cloud.
When we first ate one, we thought cheesecake technology had peaked. But that was before Uncle Tetsu announced their latest invention: Signature Chocolate Cheesecake.
This thing is launching as part of Uncle Tetsu’s ‘Chocolate Explosion’ event on Friday 13 July. The guys are also trialling a new chocolate pudding at the same time (we’re here for the cheesecake—accept no substitutes).
The texture should be the same as the classic variety—think lighter, fluffier and wobblier than your standard western cheesecake. Less sweet too. Almost like a custard tart in cheesecake form. Except this time it’s got a few dollops of A-Grade cocoa in the mix.
You can get your hands on Uncle Tetsu’s new chocolate cheesecakes at both stores (Swanston St + Melbourne Central) from Friday 13 July. When Uncle Tetsu opened earlier this year, there were queues ‘round the block, so expect more of the same.
We’re gonna buy five and stock up for winter, but that’s just us.
Where: Uncle Tetsu, 3/55 Swanston St & LG20 Melbourne Central
When: From Friday 13 July

Speaking of cheesecake, we found a cafe in Richmond doing matcha cheesecake, and it's bloody delish.
