What is it about watermelon? People just lose their sh*t. You’re at a perfectly ordinary picnic, then someone whips out a watermelon and suddenly it’s Superbowl Sunday.
Well if watermelon’s your thing, you’re gonna love this. Korean ice-cream legends Milkcow are bringing their limited-edition watermelon ice-cream sandwich to Melbourne. The picture’s pretty self-explanatory: it’s a huge hunk of watermelon, hollowed out and filled with vegan, dairy-free ice-cream, then sprinkled with a little pink Himalayan rock salt.
It’s a riff on the original creation, first made by Dominique Ansel (of cronut fame) for Milkcow’s Tokyo store. Double Good also tried something similar at Brisbane’s recent Eat Street Markets. Milkcow seems to have upped the cuteness factor though—it kind of looks like you’re eating cartoon food.
Want a slice? You’re gonna have to be quick. The watermelon ice-cream sandwich is not gonna be on the menu forever, and the stores are limiting the serves each day.
