While we’re all for a cheeky trip to bustling Chinatown to get our dumpling fix, sometimes we want to get away from all the craziness and enjoy some delicious Chinese food somewhere a little fancier. I mean, how can you say no to a classy dining experience?

With some of the best restaurants in Melbourne seemingly jumping on the ‘fine dining’ bandwagon, it takes more than just a chef with some skillz to appeal to today’s food obsessed customer!

Quietly opening in mid November, Table Lamp Restaurant & Bar is a new Melbourne restaurant set to excite local foodies. Tucked away on Little Lonsdale Street in the CBD, Table Lamp boasts a menu of super tasty Asian fusion dishes in a contemporary fine-dining setting.

Executive Chef Alex Chin, a kitchen whiz who’s spent 10 years working in some of the best Chinese restaurants around Australia, the United Kingdom and Scotland, has made sure Table Lamp’s menu offers something for everyone, with a variety of juicy meat, fish and veggie-based entrees, mains and platters available.

The food at Table Lamp is designed to share (the banquet options are an excellent choice if you’re with a group), however can also be enjoyed solo ‘cos let’s face it, we all know someone who’s a little too territorial about their food!

Highlights include the cheese baked crab shell stuffed with diced chicken and the salt and pepper crispy squid, along with grilled whole baby snapper and the Thai red curry. An order of skewers are another must—we’re big fans of the beef as well as the scallop! Vegetarians are also catered to at Table Lamp, with delicious options like the veggie san choi bao and the fried eggs with sambal chilli sauce.

Thirsty? Well of course you are! The good news is that Table Lamp also offer an extensive drinks list of local and international beers, wines and ciders, along the coolest tipples we’ve heard of in ages…Chinese Zodiac cocktails!

From the gin-based Ox to the balsamic and thyme infused Rabbit, these cocktails are quirky, creative and utterly delicious…don’t be surprised if you find yourself ordering more than one!

So, next time you get that craving for Chinese food in Melbourne, make sure you pay a visit to Table Lamp Restaurant & Bar. Featuring plenty of tasty Asian fusion dishes in a contemporary fine-dining setting, it’s one of the most exciting new Melbourne restaurants around.
