We’ve teamed up with Peroni to bring you our What’s Trending hit list: your monthly guide to maximising life in the city. We’re cutting through the chatter and counting down our top 10 hottest new openings, events, and trending happenings in Melbourne this month, so you won't miss a thing.

Spring is finally here, and with it comes heaps of hot new things to do in Melbourne this season. From live music to pop-up food events, the must-try luxury ingredient to the must-book hottest restaurant, here are 10 things that are totally #trending right now in our glorious city.

#1: Rococo St Kilda Is Expanding!

The southside’s favourite Italian restaurant, Rococo on Acland Street, is set to expand this month, opening a brand new dining area right next-door to its original St Kilda restaurant. Twice the room for epic freshly-made pizzas?! You’ll want to lock in an Italian feast in Rococo’s new space asap.

#2: Everything Fairy floss!

Fairy floss is the must-try luxury ingredient this month, with heaps of restaurants, bars and pop-ups adding spun sugar to everything from delicious breakfasts to extravagant drinks. Get your fairy floss fix at Coin Laundry in Armadale, where you can have five-grain porridge topped with the treat, at Om Nom dessert bar, or order some for home delivery from awesome Australian confectioner Fluffë.

#3: Jazz Nights at The Botanical

Jazz is having a moment right now in Melbourne and there’s no better place to enjoy some live music than at South Yarra bar and eatery The Botanical. Every Wednesday night this month, you’ll find mouth-watering food, ice-cold drinks and an awesome low-key jazz bar vibe…The perfect hump-day dining spot.

#4: Upmarket hits ACCA

The Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, also known as ACCA, gets a new designer market, complete with art, beauty, fashion and food—the perfect start to any weekend. Check it out on the third Saturday of the month (that’s Saturday 17th October) from 10am until 4pm for some amazing locally made finds.

#5: Hop on your Vespa…Carlton Italian Festa is here!

Lygon Street transforms into a piazza on Sunday 25th October when it becomes a hub of Italian artisan food and culture for the Italian Festa. If you’re lusting after a cute Vespa scooter of your own, there will be some vintage classics on show, as well as all the salumi and mozzarella you can handle. Bellissimo!

#6: The Melbourne Music Week Line-Up Is Announced

Love live music? You’d better book your tickets now for Melbourne Music Week, which runs later this year in November. While hypnotic rockers The Brian Jonestown Massacre have already confirmed an appearance, the full list is announced on Wednesday 7th October, so have your credit cards ready then!

#7: Salami Is The Thing You Should Be Eating

If you’re looking for a hot ingredient to add to virtually anything, salami is where it’s at. The Melbourne Salami Festa, which runs from Friday 16th – Sunday 18th October, is the perfect place to find out how it’s made, how to cook with it and, more importantly, just what makes it so mouth-wateringly delicious. One of the best things to do in Melbourne this month for some delicious culinary inspiration.

#8: Men’s Grooming Goes Luxe

We’re ALL about men’s grooming this month. In the run up to Spring Carnival, wedding season and Movember, and in the interest of dudes generally looking good, The Urban List is loving Men+Co, Melbourne CBD’s top spot for a scotch, a shave and a shoe-shine. Hotfoot it to their Collins Street and Melbourne Place salons for some manspiration.

#9: Decadent Spring Picnics

Spring has finally sprung, so it’s the perfect time to plan a luxury picnic in any of the city’s stunning parks. Get yourself a beautiful blanket and picnic hamper, pick up some fantastic foodie finds (we’re thinking charcuterie, cheese, fresh bruschetta, and a few beers…) and make a date with some friends in the open air.

#10: Rotisserie Chicken at Belleville

Melbourne’s latest CBD fusion eatery, Belleville, is serving delicious rotisserie chicken that you NEED to try. The delicately glazed chicken is juicy, the venue is hidden inside an ultra-cool warehouse in Chinatown, and the tap beer selection is stellar. One for the weekend, for sure!
