Christmas is creeping ever closer (which means a lot of these to-do's are Chrissie-related) but here's a stellar list of things to keep yourself occupied with if you're one of the very few to have wrapped up their Christmas shopping for 2016 (pardon the pun).
Barkly Square Open Air Cinema
Contrary to [un]popular belief, you can never have too many outdoor cinemas. Which means the opening of the Barkly Square Open Air Cinema for the summer of 16/17 is a welcome addition to Melbourne’s outdoor cinema scene. They’ll be dropping new release after new release all weekend, so check out the website for session times and to book your ticket.
Royal Croquet Club
Guess who’s back, back again? The Royal Croquet Club is back, tell a friend. This food, art and music festival is back for another hawt season. Catch some killer live beats, juicy feeds (from Gelato Messina, 8 Bit Burgers and POW Kitchen to name a few) at our iconic Birrarung Marr and try your hand at some real life croquet. Bella’s Late Night Open House
It’s the last weekend before Christmas so it’s officially time to shake your tail feather. Lygon Street’s Trades Hall is putting on a party this Friday night that promises summer cocktails and killer tunes from the likes of DJs Leah Collins, Fiona Scott-Norman and Miss Goldie. Carols in the Square
It’s time switch off J Bieb’s Chrissie album, coz the pros are here. Catch the incredibly talented voices of the Australian Girls Choir, Glee Club, and singers from CitiOpera (as well as ‘multiple’ special guests) at Melbourne’s Carols in the Square this Friday night between 6-7pm. This another free event, so if your pockets are empty after several prezzie runs to Chadstone, this is a must-see event!
Errol Street Open Air Christmas Party
Ain’t no party like an Errol Street Open Air Christmas Party, coz an Errol Street Open Air Christmas Party don’t quit. North Melbourne will come alive this weekend when street entertainers, performers, carollers, stalls and Santa himself hit the streets this Friday night between 3-10pm. We May Never Meet Again: The Music of Amy Winehouse
Nine-piece band, Movement 9, has joined forces with the incredible vocals of Elly Poletti to bring you a unique perspective of global superstar—Amy Winehouse. The ensemble will combine jazz with a suite of brand new arrangements to produce killer versions of crowd favourites, ‘Back to Black’, ‘Tears Dry on Their Own and ‘In My Bed’ to name a few. There will be two sessions at 6pm and 9pm at the Bennetts Lane Jazz Club. Tickets are $30 for adults and $25 for concession and can be purchased here

There’s no better excuse to hit the racetrack than Christmas! Head over to the Flemington Racecourse this Saturday at midday for a special (and final) event as the Victorian Racing Club farewells the 2016 racing season in its last race day for the year. Edible Cocktails Part 2
Hosted at Loch and Key on Franklin Steet, this event is everything the name promises. Experience cocktails in a different state, texture and feel and forget a glass because you’ll need a knife and fork to enjoy these killer cocktails. Adelphi Pimms Pop-Up Pool Sessions
Any event with Pimms in the title is a must-see, let’s be real. This one so happens to be hosted by the Adelphi Hotel in Flinders Lane (RIGHT NEXT TO THE GLASS-BOTTOM POOL). As Melbourne’s summer hub of food and live entertainment, we’re not surprised that Fed Square is hosting yet another killer summer day of action. 2017 Australian Open Tournament & Festival
Christmas has really come early with the Australian Open Festival! A free to enter event in Melbourne, along with the Canadian Club Racquet Club and grand slam action on the giant screens, you can expect Salmon Poké from the likes of Tokyo Tina, souvas from Jimmy Grants and Huxtaburger's signature range of burgers.
