Hold onto your goddamn hats because this is BIG news. Returning in 2017 is Yak Ale’s Melbourne Barbeque Festival!

On the 4th and 5th of February, Flemington Racecourse will be converted into one huge barbeque pit, hosting cook-offs, butchery demos, and of course as much barbeque as you can muster.

With international pitmasters coming to Melbourne especially for the event, there is a lot to look forward to. Famous US barbeque restaurants Memphis Barbecue Co. and Ubons Barbecue are joining the line-up, serving up their world-championship whole hog and succulent barbeque pork ribs.

Flying the flag directly from the States will also be Texas-born and Compton-raised Kevin Bludso, owner of Bludso’s BBQ in Compton, and Melbourne's own San Antone. San Antone’s new trailer pit will be exclusively unveiled and open for business at the two-day event.

We could never forget our Aussie born-and-bred favourites either, with household names Fancy Hank’s, Bluebonnet BBQ, Burn City Smokers, Dexter, Southside Smokers, and Smokin’ Barry’s all making the cut (Get it? Cut? Because BBQ? Classic).

As well as two massive days filled with mouth-watering barbeque from the best in the business, there’s also a killer line-up of line entertainment to sing to you while you drool. The list includes Paris Wells, The Glorious North, The New Savages, acoustic legend Sunny Hawkings, and more.

There’s also going to be a Barbecue Street Party at the Queen Vic Market on the 29th of January, an all-start barbeque pitmaster dinner, as well as master classes and barbeque judging (certified by the oh-so-fancy Kansas City Barbecue Society) in early Feb.
