Simply book a group table and get ready to welcome the food!

GG Restaurant

East Melbourne

Perfectly located in East Melbourne (smack bang in the middle of the CBD and Richmond), GG Restaurant is the type of Melbourne restaurant that screams ‘long lunch’. Seriously, Listers, GG’s couldn’t be more perfect—relaxed, classy vibe, knowledgeable staff, an amazing wine list and a menu that’s perfect for sharing. Do yourselves a favour and order the lamb ribs or the prawn cocktail, along with the fresh and flavoursome ‘Fishy Plate’. As for mains, the John Dory or classic eye fillet with bernaise sauce and hand cut chips can’t be beat. Add a bottle of vino or two, and your afternoon is sorted!

Simply Spanish

Melbourne CBD

When planning a long lunch in Melbourne CBD, who else would you turn to but the Spanish—after all, tapas were made for grazing! CBD Spanish restaurant, Simply Spanish, is another brilliant spot for a long lunch, with an express lunch menu that’s hard to ignore. For only $19.50, you can feast on paella, a chef’s selection of tapas, Spanish olives and a glass of sangria or churros—YUM! There’s a great outdoor decking area so make sure you get in early to nab your spot.

Feast of Merit

Run by the team at YGap, Feast of Merit on Swan Street is a popular choice for lunch in Melbourne and for damn good reason! The food here is fresh and flavoursome; think nom-worthy salads like kohlrabi, mint, and grapefruit, roasted beetroot and feta, and roast vegie, complemented by roast chicken, Hopkins River beef, or BBQ fish. Feast of Merit have a stellar drinks menu too, with a variety of local drops that’ll make your long lunch even better.

Newmarket Hotel

St Kilda

At Newmarket Hotel, sharing is the name of the game, and with their lipsmacking Mexican-inspired menu, it’s one of our top picks for a long lunch in Melbourne. Where do we even begin with Newmarket’s fabulousness? Soft tacos, quesadillas, and various other Latin street snacks—oh, and let’s not forget some of Melbourne’s best cocktails—before you know it, the hours have passed, your bellies are full, and you’ve had yourself a most excellent long lunch indeed.

Estelle Bistro

If you're looking for a slightly fancier Melbourne restaurant for your long lunch, you'd be a fool not to consider Estelle Bistro in Northcote. Recently relaunched, the bistro features a classy Modern Australian menu with wagyu tartare and octopus, tarama and squid ink the perfect starters, and ocean trout with mussels and parsley, and Western Plains pork with cider and boudin noir the ultimate mains. If you're heading there with a group of five or more, you'll have to go with the three or five course menu; however with food this good, we're not complaining!
