Ah, bacon. Friend, mother, secret lover. If you’re a fan of what happens when a pig is cured and fried to a crisp, get on down to Welcome To Thornbury this Saturday for Australia’s very first Bacon Appreciation Day.

This is pretty much what it sounds like: a day dedicated to all things bacon and delicious that will concern your cardiologist. There’ll be triple-decker bacon burgers from Mr Burger and YOMG, bacon banh mi from Nem N’ Nem and Billy Van Creamy on site dishing out maple bacon sticks. Everyone knows that if you want to make something sound more appetising, you serve it on a stick.

Behind the bar, the Welcome To Thornbury crew will be slinging bacon-themed cocktails and bacon-inspired beers all day (your guess is as good as ours), plus a regular bar if, you know, you enjoy bacon as much as the next person, but don’t like the idea of actually drinking it in a frosty beverage.

Vegans, probs give this one a miss.
