This event sounds all kinds of spooky.
Australian cult cinema experience company, Beyond Cinema, are staging a very special screening of the 1994 classic Shawshank Redemption…inside a mystery Melbourne gaol.
And that’s not all. The movie and reality are going to blend together into some weird meta-art sort of sh*t. Ticket holders will be emailed details about the character they’ll be playing on the night. When you rock up, you’ll be treated like a prisoner (there’s a bunch of actors playing the guards). No word yet on whether Warden Norton is going to make an appearance, but bring your Bible just in case.
Scenes from the cult hit will be re-enacted during the night, along with a screening of the film itself. So far, all we know is that it’ll be taking place in a Melbourne gaol (probs Pentridge, we’re guessing? Or the Old Melbourne Gaol), and that it’ll be taking place in Feb.
You can sign up for pre-release info and tickets here. Spaces are limited to 300
inmates lucky guests, so don’t dilly dally.
Remember guys. Hope is a good thing. Maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies.
Goddam. We can feel the tears coming already…
